Tom Strong and the suicidal jumper

There are some people who think Alan Moore hates superheroes and couldn't write an unironically positive take on heroism, one not mired in grey and cynicism, if his life depended on it.

Using acrobatic derring-do, Tom manages to grab onto Pete.

I love Tom Strong, but I don't think I got as far as this.

I think I read the first 3 books, then thought it was losing some of the magic. But it looks like it was still awesome at this point: which book is it from?

I love the way Tom always solves problems Heroically. So many of the stories, he helps the 'monster' out. He really, truly believes that all lives are as important, and acts on it :)

Remember the Modular Man? He took care of him by simply pointing out that the "life" he had simply wasn't much of one.

Of course, then Tom gave him a spaceship and his own planet. That might've been bad thinking.

I loved that. He found a solution that let him get what he really wanted (enduring consciousness), then trusted him. And it paid off. As long as nobody else ever wants to use that planet...

Wasn't the planet in question Venus? I don't think there's much humanity can do with it, unless someone can figure out a way to increase it's rotation and remove some of the atmosphere.

And best of all, it's close for once Tom Strong is dead and he gets bored with just one planet.

Seriously, Tom Strong is, in essence, a humor book.

It's from the spin-off, Tom Strong's Terrific Tales, issue 3 or 4. It's in the first Terrific Tales trade, at any rate.
