Amazing Spider-Man #600 Preview

A dying villain wanting to go out in a final blaze of glory? What a great idea! I'm surprised no one else has come up with it yet. (Also, there's no way Marvel's going to kill him off if they have any brains.)

Man, Otto's really trying to give Hal Jordan some competition!

Seriously, though, Otto's one of my favorite characters, but he's been misused so horribly for so long. I'd really have hoped the brilliant Alfred Molina take would have brought him back to his awesome 90's white-business-suited badass glory, but no. Instead, we got Matrix!Otto, followed by a return to whiny annoying green-spandex Otto. I'm afraid to see what the reveal of this current state of Otto will be.

Everything that comes into contact with ASM turns to roasted dry Llama droppings these days, and, as with the ancient Incas, it is seen as a great delicacy.

Note to Quesada: remember when you did Daredevil with Kevin Smith? Having Mysterio dying of cancer and trying to get revenge worked because he was a joke that no-one cared about. This does NOT work because it is OTTO FREAKING OCTAVIUS, who is decidely better than Mysterio. Whatever happened to Carolyn Trainer and the Master Programmer?

For that matter, what kind of Doctor diagnoses a known supervillains in broad daylight without calling the cops? Hope did she do that X-Ray if he's in a robot suit?

ROASTED DRY LLAMA DROPPINGS, SAY I!

Even Romita jr. can't rescue this trainwreck.

In reality, that doctor is only trying to fool Otto into thinking he's dying in order to control his behavior.

This will directly result in Otto attaching robot-arms to a lot of Z-list Marvel villains, with the "octopusized" villains going on a rampage while Otto spends his own time trying to impregnate, um, Aunt May I guess.

Good, Freaking. Idea.

Such a simple thing. I have no idea why nobody ever thought of it before: accumulated head trauma.

Name me a single supervillain who you COULDN'T apply this to, really.

Yeah. Super-original. It's also not like they've ever done this with the Vulture or anything.

Or Mysterio, Carnage, Eddie Brock, Silvermane, and Sandman. Geez you think the Spidey writers would stop playing the terminal card but nope they keep a pushing it. Next up.. Electro's Last Pulse.

This was also done wtih Vulture by J.M. DeMatteis well done spectacular run in the ninties. When he was dying with cancer and he went to Aunt May to ask for forgiveness for Nathan's death.

Who was it that called Otto crashing May's wedding and being the cause of JJJ Sr's death? Because that's exactly what's going to happen.

Spidey has radiation in his system, and he gets hit in the head a lot. Is he a goner as well?

They already did that storyline in The Other. Technically, this is Peter's all new regenerated body. ...Unless that's another thing they changed in an Untold Story.

Seriously, if that made sense, Matt Murdock oughta be in a wheelchair by now.

I don't know if The Other is in continuity anymore. He no longer has any of the abilities he gained in the Other (such as the spikes coming out of his hands), and although this wasn't part of that storyline, he's lost his organic webbing.

As far as I'm concerned, almost everything that's happened to Spidey post-OMD is basically the equivalent of a 'What If' or an Elseworlds - it's not happening in the 'real' world, it's happening in the fakey-fakey-I-am-Mephisto-and-shall-spare-your-aunt's-life-at-the-cost-of-your-SOUL/MARRIAGE/WHATEVER-bwahahahaha world. He's basically plonked down his version of what would have happened minus this this and this as an overlay over what's actually happened. In a year or so at the most, I'm presuming that we'll be back to the way things were, and Quesada will say 'man, that was GREAT', sigh nostalgically, and try and figure out some OTHER way to get rid of MJ.
I have to say, though, I kinda liked the close-up X-ray punches showing how Ock got brain damage. Nice touch.
