Wondy 33
Four pages from today's Wondy.

So, the sea monsters from the preview attack the island. The amazons fight back. Ares shows up.

WHUT. She won't kill Genocide, but she will kill Ares? She can kill Ares? Since when? He's the god of war. The whole point of him is that he outclasses her as much as Clark outclasses Jim Gordon.

They're on Thalarion at this point, and Zeus shows up and is all "be a wife and mother, and oh I killed Kane."

When WML does a better Polly than Gail, something is badly wrong with the universe.

... yeah.

On the plus side, I've had to cut back on luxuries recently and I've been waffling over what titles to cut, and this makes that decision easier at least..

As long as it gets Cassie back into Wonder Woman where she belongs I'd be all for it. Plus it'd be keeping the portfolio in Zeus's family (better the bratty demigod daughter than the lesbian grandaughter, I'm sure. Even better that the brat doesn't seem to be all cosy with grandaughter either!)

Athena is arguably Diana's sire by Poly, making Diana Zeus' granddaughter.

Though also and more directly, Ares is supposedly Polly's father per Byrne, making Diana the granddaughter and Cassie the great-granddaughter.

But isn't Cassie supposed to be Zeus's daughter conceived by ye olde rape method of disguising yourself as your intended's partner?

It's never made particularly clear what happened between Zeus and Helena, but Helena seems to be aware of who she slept with and bear Zeus no ill will. Regardless, Diana certainly has as much claim to spiritual and adoptive maternity over Cassie as Ares has to Hippolyta. She's never been explicitly declared Diana's heir by the amazons, but pre-Johns it was always still clear that she was all the same.

Now, as we've learned lately, in the DCU Blood is All, so obviously Zeus' paternity takes precedence over everything and any importance Diana might theoretically have once had to an empty ungrateful bile-filled cipher who can't even be assed to wear a pair of goddamn bracers anyway. So I guess it's all fairly academic.

not necessarily. Over in Superman Zod's son has been adopted by Supes and is fulfilling the role.
