Golden Age Wonder Woman
These are from Sensation Comics #14, 1943. I'm not at home so I can't look it up, but I think this is one of the issues drawn by Frank Godwin.

Diana Prince gets a telegram that Etta Candy is about to get married. She hurries to Texas for the wedding:

If any of you Etta fans were worried about how she would handle the disappointment, worry no more. The spunky gal's an inspiration to us all!

I like Brenda! She's so enthusiastic. Pity they didn't differentiate more of the Holliday girls.

If the guards are Italians, why are they dressed like - and talking like - Mexicans? And while, in all fairness, Marston is not all THAT far off in saying 'all Latins love music' (most of them do, in my experience), it's still a vast overstatement, to say the least. One of the few bad things I have to say about Marston is that, while he may have been progressive in his feminist views, he certainly wasn't in his racial ones.

Sad but true. Once I scanned a page that included an... objectionable depiction of a black porter. At first I was thinking, I shouldn't hide that Marston & Peters did this. But finally I couldn't stand to post it, so I cut out the most important panel from that page and left the rest off.

One must take the bad with the good - it's not like that sort of thing was uncommon at the time, after all. Anyway, it wasn't always the case - when he was dealing with, for example, ancient Mayans or Egyptians, he was perfectly fair and even-handed.
