I'm surprised Scooter cares, but that's a PERFECT answer from Gonzo (In my little world, "Muppets from Space" was all a dream Gonzo had, with no basis in fact or continuity)

I have to respectfully disagree with you my friend. In my opnion, 'Muppets from Space' was the best Muppet movie since 'The Muppet Movie'.

I accept both answers. Especially since those aliens were all a bunch of crazy stunt performers like Gonzo himself, you could say they're ALL artists.

Better than Muppet Christmas Carol? Have to demur there I'm afraid. It's enjoyable, but the premise is flawed. Gonzo's ansgt about his origins works because he always comes to the realisation that it really doesn't matter what he origins are, the Muppets are his family. Any explanations removes that angst, or at least changes it fundamentally.

You'd prefer him eternally miserable?

While I agree it certainly wasn't the best ever, "From Space" certainly did a great job in laying out a new status quo for the Muppet gang, and managed to cature the same fantastic spirit of previous shows, including the fantastic "Muppets Tonight".

But we can certainly agree that by the standard of the movies after it, it's be the best film since "The Godfather". What brain-dead arse could possibly think you could do a great Muppet movie by involving Quentin Tarantino, MELTING Miss Piggy, and DECAPITATING Kermit & Gonzo?

Not miserable per se, but whenever he gets down about his past, he can always realise that it ultimately doesn't matter because his friends love him regardless.

He's basically the orhpaned kid adopted into a loving (if eccentric) home; he might wonder about his actual past at times, but his "real" family is always there for him.

It just occurred to me, that makes Gonzo the pre-IC Jason Todd of the Muppet Show. How's that for a disturbing image?

Muppet Wizard of Oz. To say that it defied the very nature of suckage would be useless, because the movie previous to it had already done so; for example, it featured Steve Irwin hunting down and drugging Frosty the Snowman. This, this is what you get when you've taken something seemingly immune to suckage, and drag it kicking and screaming into the dark heart of the suckage substance.

If you ever hear that someone near to you is going to put the film in front of kids, take every step you can to have it destroyed before that can happen. Apart from the shenanigans with the Muppet Christmas Carol DVD, there can be no greater insult to Jim Henson & co. than the Wizard of Oz film.

The Great Muppet Caper was the apotheosis of the Muppets. Nothing they did before, nor have done since, has matched that masterwork.

Having worked at "The Happiness Hotel", or a reasonable facsimile thereof (If we weren't under "Places to plant your carcase" in the London guidebook, it was only because we were too cheap to advertise in it) I can attest to it's accuracy.

Plus it did include one of my all time favourite movie quotes between Miss Piggy and Diana Rigg's Lady Holliday as the latter comes to the end of a over-detailed summary of her life, circumstances, and her no-good brother,

Piggy - "Why are you telling me all this?"

Lady Holliday - "It's plot exposition, it has to go somewhere"

Gee, thanks. I'll never read ASBAR again without hearing those lines in the voice of Gonzo the Great. just when you thought that book couldn't get any crackier!

Gonzo as the voice of Batman and Rizzo as the voice of Robin works rather well!

Annnnd now I'm picturing ASBAR in period costume, narrating the Muppet Christmas Carol. "Light the lamp, not the rat bat acrobat!"

....Probably. If they were played by Miss Piggy she'd take the Goddamn Batman down in two seconds flat.

Camilla the Chicken would have to be Catwoman, of course. Perhaps Miss Piggy could be Batgirl?

Ha! Well, I think Piggy would be a better Catwoman, but this is ASBAR, so I don't know, frankly.

Mind you, I can totally see Miss Piggy yelling "This here arcade belongs to the fucking Batgirl!"

Black Canary of course... Martial arts skills plus her sonic scream of "Hi YAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" would make her pretty much unstoppable, plus I can actually imagine her wearing that outfit to serve drinks in a sleazy bar somwhere.

I figure Black Canary is played by Big Bird, Wonder Woman is Miss piggy, and Catwoman is Camilla.

Kermit's Conscience: Mmm - Yeah. A little like a turkey, but not much.
Kermit: No I guess not.
