I wasn´t specifically addressing Dini and Morrison with what I said. It goes way beyond their runs. And of course I also loved reading about Bruce Wayne´s private life! (to be truthful, the first thing I always did when I got a new comic was to thumb through it and see if there´s a pic of Bruce without the cowl in it! Come to think of it, I still do that :)) What I call soap opera is the ever expanding cast/family around him and the plots evolving around their relationships and their constant angstings. They take up way too much space and time, they feel contrived most of the time and their sole purpose seems to be to make Bruce look like a "jerk", i.e. not your perfect loving daddy. In my eyes, we have witnessed the "Smallevillisation" of the Batverse.
I might be completely wrong, but I believe it started as a trope in something like the "Shortpacked" webcomic several years ago, and grew from there.
I know that, I´m just wondering why people who should know better are always bringing it up. It´s not even original anymore.
