One Perfect Moment: Snapper Carr
Those not well-versed in the Silver Age JLA often ask: "Why would the world's greatest super-heroes let some teenaged punk like Snapper Carr hang out with them?"

Answer: "Because somebody's got to save their sorry asses."

The set-up: A two-bit crook named Pete Ricketts has stumbled across a mind-control gizmo called a Cyberniray, and uses it to enslave the Justice League. At first, he and his mob buddies force the heroes to go out and commit crimes, and do battle with each other. However, each time the JLAers go to steal something, they find that the item has already disappeared.

Deciding that the JLA sucks at being criminals, Ricketts and co. decide to just kill them, with a bunch of specially-prepared Inescapable Death-Traps. But suddenly, the heroes snap out of their Cyberniray trances, and manage to help each other get free.

So, who saved them? Superman? Batman? Ha! As if...

(from Justice League of America #8, by Gardner Fox and Mike Sekowsky)
