One Perfect Moment: Tim Drake
Imagine the following scenario:

You have a new girlfriend - one that you like very, very much. Unfortunately, because you are a teenage vigilante, she doesn't know your name. After one perfect night on the town, in uniform, blending with a crowd of sci-fi geeks in costumes, she tells you that she's pregnant. With another guy's kid.

You are Timothy Drake. What do you do?

You invent/misappropriate a fictional cover identity, pick her up at the front door, and TAKE HER TO BABY CLASS.

Because you are awesome.

Alvin was fun, but I always liked the name he chose for his cover in the "Seduction of the Gun" one shot - Todd Richards! :)

I'd forgotten about Todd Richards! I was trying to make a list the other day... Alvin, Gary, Mr. Sarcastic... did the female med student have a name?

He went undercover as a female med student? Do tell (and show, preferably show).

This should have happened more often.

Caroline Hill. I LOVED that.

Which issue carried "Seduction of the Gun"? I'd never heard of it.

In Robin #113, he goes undercover as a hitchhiker named Gary Glanz. Like Alvin, Gary has scruffy facial hair (in a different arrangement, and also bushy eyebrows). The scruff turns out to be fake - if I recall, he rips it off when he changes into his Robin duds.

I won't be able to get to a scanner until tomorrow, unfortunately. If no one beats me to it, I'll share then.

I just can't take my eyes off the little chin-hairs he's trying to grow there!

Obviously that is their function as part of the disguise. Also, I think the scruff may be fake. It was fake when he was Gary.

THIS.

And people wonder at my immense love for Tim Drake.

I loved how Steph kept deliberately miscalling him by varius even dorkier handles the whole time.

I shouldn't re-read this stuff now. It almost makes me cry.

There is nothing funnier than Tim putting that outfit together. Especially the chin.

See, I loved Tim's reaction to her pregnancy and everything, and how he was there for her, etc, but the fact that she got pregnant always kind of annoyed me. I would have liked to think she'd be smarter than to get herself in that situation.

Broken condoms can happen and the pill doesn't work for everybody.

But that's real life. Because this is comics and these events are being chosen by people to happen, it's never chance, so it's more a reflection of the character unless it's explicitly stated that yeah, they used a condom but it broke or something, you know? Ugh I'm being so incoherent rn.

To be fair, she was...what, 14 or 15? She had a criminal for a father and a drug addict for a mother, so it may very well have been more of a self-esteem issue or maybe she thought by doing something fun or risky she would be somehow taking control of her life (I mean, she also became a vigilante, which can also qualify as a fun and/or risky thing to do).

The logic isn't sound, but it is a mistake that an otherwise smart teen might make if she was in a bad place, emotionally.

I mean, I can understand why it might happen, but it so didn't have to happen, and imo I don't think it did much for her character. While there are tons of mitigating circumstances, becoming a teen mother is widely viewed as being not a good decision, so it made her seem like, well, the kind of person who doesn't make good decisions. And, iirc, the issue was kind of dropped like a hot potato after she put the baby up for adoption, so I have to wonder what the whole point of the pregnancy was . . . other than ~drama~.

Or maybe I just don't like it and want to ignore all the evidence for why it might not be that bad xD
