So, like all good things, Jack Kirby's Mr. Miracle series was coming to an end. Fortunately, unlike some good things, the King went out with a bang. Full-on war between Team Free and Apokolips, with a side-order of unresolved sexual tension getting resolved.





"Let's get married! Right away!"

"There's still a little matter of our enemy--" (epic ass-kickery ensues)

That just sums it up right there. This perfect, unrepeatable blend of operatic mythology and superhero pop art, where in two pages you can go from declaration of love to marriage proposal and back to the fighting without missing a beat, and it's epic and it's funny and it's romantic and it's just plain fun. Reading it is like watching God make-out with Buddha.

And no one's as good as Jack Kirby at the "I'm announcing what I'm going to do now because I'm a comic book character" patois.
