Most of the issue, which has no dialogue, is about Spider-Woman and Kitty Pryde looking for Spider-Man (who was caught in an explosion at Dr. Strange's house last issue) while helping out New Yorkers. The final four pages...

The comic didn't say either way. But considering that the title is going to be rebooted soon, at the very most we'll have an arc or two with someone else being Spidey (as Bendis has hinted) and then have Peter return.

Ultimatum #4 even made it clear that no one really knew what happened to him.

So my money is on him returning.

Unintentionally funny, considering what happened in the last annual, ie MJ wanting to have sex with Peter in case he was to die suddenly and so they could make the most of their relationship while it lasts.

The bizarrest thing is that Bendis has made a good job out of a piece of shit event in his one book, whereas he can't write his own events for toffee.

But on the subject of Jess, it seems likely she'd be the lead when Spidey gets relaunched shortly.

Really, I LOVED this series when it first came out, all the way through... well, the beginning of Ultimatum. Now? I just can't bring myself to give a rat's ass, let alone spend my money on it.

Been awhile since I've read the book; who's the one with glasses, and did Kong learn Peter's identity at some point? I did read where he figured it out, but everyone thought he was nuts at the time; did something change since? Does everyone there know Peter = Spider-man?

The one with the glasses is MJ's mom. Kong found out about Peter's secret ID but never told anyone outside their group of friends.

I personally believe the lack of dialogue here was Bendis' way of rebelling against Ultimatum.
