Amazing Spider-Man #600 Advertisement

If this isn't an attempt to rile up fans of the Spider-Marriage then I don't know what is.

Hardly much of a teaser, given we know what's happening. It's not like it's suddenly going to turn out to be J Jonah Jameson and Peter Parker, or John Jameson and Aunt May.

There's another Spider-Man character whose last name ends in 'Son'.

Yes, J Jonah Jameson SR, who proposed to Aunt May

...and Mary Jane WatSON.

Obviously this isn't going to happen, but its obvious that's what Marvel wants the fans to think.

Unless you've been living under, I don't know, a log, your own bed, or a street for the past two years, how would anyone be stupid enough to buy into the idea that it could possibly be MJ?

I'm not attacking your thoughts, here, just thinking about how dumb Marvel obviously thinks we are.

That said! What if they secretly plan to put the final nail in the coffin and off MJ entirely? Solicitations can be altered, after all, and those cover images we've been given could be akin to those used to see off Janet Van Dyne, last december.

Hmm. Yeah. Ultimate Spidey is pretty darned good, except for right now, given it's embroiled in Jeph Loeb's rather colossal turd of an event.

Someone who has been staying away from the Spider-titles because of OMD (and therefore not aware of the May/Marty-Stu Jameson subplot) could easily see that as Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson and a sign of the marriage returning.

I don't think it's about tricking people into thinking they're marrying again. It's about them deliberately obscuring something obvious to joke about the fact that it could be MJ and Peter, but HAHA NOT RLY THEIR MARRIAGE IS DED, LOL.

It's a dick move.

Alas, that's not one of mine, but oh how I wish it were. It belongs to a guy named Michael Lovitz, whose obsession with Mr Grayson rivals my own, and whose art collection is simply astounding.

Well, it'd be more entertaining than what we're likely to get, and would be a surefire contender for marraige of the decade, given we haven't really had that many, in comics, as of late.

Pun!
You know, I read that issue tons of times but it wasn't until somone mentioned it on the ole Scans_daily that I got it. It was fun! Although the fact that I had no idea what Sandman was at the time I read it is a justifiable excuse I feel. I just assumed it was some scary foreshdoing, what with the not showing face of pale lady. Also the brush thing just seemed bizarr back then (altho didn't read it in english so u know, might not have gotten the joke even if I had known Death anyway).

Wasn't God potentionally there too?
The bachelor/bachelorette party issue before the wedding was one of my all-time favourites.

Wait, is Aunt May's surname Parker?

Hmm, didn't know that. Though if her husband was Peter's dad's brother, that makes sense.

To the best of my knowledge, May's maiden name was Reilly and her married name Parker (as Ben was Peter's dad's older brother), and she clearly left it as Parker after Ben passed away. I don't know if she'd change it to Jameson now (I'm just going to pretend that either MA or Ultimate universe are the main canon instead of 616 for the moment, I think, until the Spidey retcon gets retconned and Steve Rogers is brought back to life).

I hate you, unknown Marvel exec. person (possibly Quesada) who decided to taunt us by creating this page. Rubbing salt in the wound much? I actually had a moment of OMG-yay, they're letting Peter and MJ get married again in canon, before I realized that, duh, Aunt May's last name is also Parker and Jameson ends in -son, too. Fuck.
