So the solution was to... what? Stay silent over something that was offensive/triggering/upsetting?
As I stated above, the slightest bit of research or paying attention would have revealed that sexual assault was absolutely NOT being depicted, and short-circuited the backlash. Even the simple act of listening when everyone from fans to editors to the artist herself were explaining that the perception was mistaken would have done so. If people had done that, a good book with a majority-female cast and strongly positive depictions of heroines might still be around.
Instead, it's gone. With BoP now gone as well, that leaves, what, none? That being a tragic loss is something I think we can all agree on.
