Then to be honest, no offense, but you need to detach a little bit. It's infuriating to see a property you've come to love jump the shark, believe me, but you can't let it affect you personally. Life's too short to worry what a bunch of people thousands of miles away put on the printed page, you know?
I honestly suggest without a gram of sarcasm, if you love the characters, write them yourself. That's what fanfic and RPG's are for. Share your vision of what it should be like with your friends and other like minded people, not only does that engage you with the characters even more strongly than merely reading about them does, it also keeps your creative muscles well exercised. That's what I do, and it keeps me happy.
Whatever you do, take the "official" comics with a grain of salt. Praise what's good, condemn what sucks, but really why would you let Joe Q affect your emotions so? Is he really worth getting stressed and upset over? Does he deserve to have that kind of power over you? I'd say you're better than that. Don't let some guy in New York City ruin your day. He's not worth it.
