Okay, this is awesome. Not a single panel that isn't a crackfest of crackiness.

And there is a hero named Whiz? (Who doesn't want Miss America made into wienerwurst?)

He's called the Whizzer. Whether that's better or worse, I don't know.

Oh, my.

Neither is good, but I think the second one is worse.

Wow.

He got his power from a transfusion of mongoose blood.

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; science has a lot to answer for.

The Whizzer at one point was in the running to be the father of Scarlet Witch and Quciksilver.

Wonderful, wonderful crack!

I love how Lady Lotus's power signature is a rising sun!

The Rising Sun has the beams radiating out from it, like in the Japanese flag, this is just radiating circles...

Back in the '60s, Roy Thomas wrote an Avegners story where Yellowjacket, Vision, and Black Panther time-travel back to WWII and have a run-in with the '40s versions of Cap, Subby, and the Torch.

Years later, when they started up the Invaders mag, Roy re-told the story, this time from the Invaders' point of view.

Any idea on an issue number ? Also did the Vision think he was still the Human torch at this point ?

No. This was long before that. Avengers Volume 1 #71 for the original story (which was a Kang versus Grandmaster saga) and Invaders Annual 1 for the other side of the story.

OK, that third-page panel where Warrior Woman is sort of squatting beneath Master Man's crotch (OK, not really, but from that angle...) is probably-unintentionally suggestive. "No one degrades my beloved but me! Or is it the other way around? Whose turn is it this time, mein liebchen?"

Masterman does strike me as a closet sub. Most people who act that way in public are. MMMMMMMmm,good times.

I just wish there was an Italian member like "Golden Archer" when Thomas did the Axis America for the Young All-stars.

Yellowjacket and the Vision fought the Invaders during the first (or second?) Grandmaster story. Issue 71, scroll down to see the cover. Black Panther was there, too. He is on the splash page to the right of the Vision, but hard to make out.

Who is the stretching guy? And the black rotating guy in stripes?

The stretch guy is "Flatman" He was they gov. agent who ran the short lived "Invaders" book from a few years back.

And another installment of "I totally had this as a kid." I think it was Baron Blood I picked it up for. But then there was Warrior Woman.

I'm assuming this warped me. I was only 8. Ah, comics.

And yeah! You have superheroes fighting VAMPIRES AND NAZIS. All you need is an ape and it's impulse bait.

Today's comics don't have that kind of activity. Also I miss the classic bait a switch covers that lied to you about the drama inside.
