See, I get that, or rather I get the general gist of what you mean. But I must ask before I can go further on this: you say you're of Chinese descent. Which is, I beg your pardon, not exactly the same as being immediately from China. I absolutely think that there should be more chinese/japanese/everyone else superheroes and if this was a Japanese-American team I'd still think it was a horrible looking book and an uninspired story, but I wouldn't be going on about it. It just wouldn't interest me beyond "yay less white bias". I would say "yay less white bias".
I'm seeing more of your point from this comment and I think we're arguing at slight cross-purposes actually ; I object to this series because it feels totally inauthentic and crap-assed in just about every way when I read the scans. I think it is a bad story and looking at it hurts my eyes. It (also) feels nothing, nothing like any Japanese fiction I've experienced, which makes the whole thing seem hopelessly lost in translation to me. And the level of weirdness and seeming 'lack of research' makes me uncomfortable, so I say "oi wots up?". It makes it seem like white bias and lazy asian fetishism.
I'm sorry if my arguments've been cracked! It's not that I want to say This Race Must Act This Way, but there are differences in culture that it makes sense to incorporate in a story about whatever place, because otherwise they don't appear to BE in that place at all.
