Planet Skaar Prologue 4 pages of fun!

Definitely one of the more interesting stories this week, Mash ups aside...

We find out that Skaar is coming to Earth and his gamma radiation is acting like a magnet to other gamma powered people IE Hulk and She-Hulk. Thankfully Rulk is not anywhere in or near or referenced in the issue, yay!

The issue in large is very philosophical I believe since it's brought up is Skaar a monster even if he was raised in horrible conditions? He's only a kid after all.

Throughout the story the FF and She-Hulk who've been anticipating the possibility that Hulk's son survived given his parentage try to intercept Skaar and negotiate with him while Sue invisibly slows down Hulk to try to make sure Skaar and Hulk don't intercept one another since it might awaken the Green Kintg persona of Hulk which if went into battle with Skaar could destroy the planet.

The battles are pretty cool but for the most part obviously only give us a glimpse of Skaar's arrival on Earth

During the battling he goes missing.

Aside from Norman we see in the issue Kate Waynesboro (sp?), the Warbound, Hercules and Loki have all become aware of Skaar to some extent.

We then get an ending narration by Skaar...

"I can hear you heartbeat. It's softer than I expected. Weaker...Wait..."

Seems Skaar got turned into Amadeus Cho! I kid, I kid though it did make me do a double take. Given his coloring here it seems Skaar is now showing his human side a bit more though I could've swore he was silvery white like his mother in his own series earlier.

Oh well, I'm interested in seeing where this leads I must say.

Im not sure what's more upsetting; Reed is now idiot enough that the all powerful Norm can spy on him undetected or how he's drawn in that panel. *shudder*

I like seeing Jen in the FF uniform again though. It takes me back...

Yeah, the art's not great and gets sketchier the further into the issue you go, but be fair. Norman is probably just looking at a satellite feed, and Reed's distracted.

Reed knows Osbron is monitoring the area since he about a page before he just talked to him and the military is right there firing on Skaar. And this area is being broadcast on national TV so Osborn isn't even spying in the first place.

That makes a lot more sense. My bad for jumping to conclusions.

When precisely did Reed and co. try to negotiate with Skaar? She-Hulk's first action is to attack him from behind and she's quickly followed by Ben aggressively trying to grab him. Then when Skaar asks them if they're there to kill him Johnny says it's not such a bad idea moments before Reed grabs him and Ben stabs him with a high-tech spear. So where exactly was this negotiation?

Is Skaar worth getting? I have the first two issues but have yet to get around to reading them. Given how Loeb-centric the franchise has been for awhile I have my doubts that anything lasting is going to occur.

How old is this kid supposed to be in human form?

Loeb is NOT involve in Skaar.
I did'nt enjoy it that much, some good issue but a lot meh, been considering droping it. Mostly since Skaar will be in Incredible Hulk and Son of Hulk.
I did'nt like the last issue at all.wont spoille but someone was blaming Skaar for what he was doing.

It mostly continue Planet Hulk.

Skaar is supossed to be over a year old.His mother's side grow up quickly.
he's not that much bigger from when he was born.

Dude. I love cats. I've had many cats since I was a child. But you can't shoot a dog/coyote for chasing cats anymore than you can shoot a cat for chasing birds :/

No, but you can shoot them for being coyotes. (Of course, that attitude is probably just from where I grew up, where coyotes are a growing problem in regards to population).

But more importantly, what kind of gun is that army guy using if it can't kill what is essentially a medium-sized dog in one shot?

Even if the only solution to the growing problem of coyotes was shooting them, that's not the reason given here. Here, we are told specifically that the guys shot the coyotes because of the cats. For all we know, the guys just damaged the ecosystem of the place by reducing the number of predators.

I can't figure out if its the inking I dont like, or just the mixture of the coloring style with the inking. Everything looks oily.

I like that cover though.

Green freaky-eyed barbarian child and loving coyote.. it's promising, I think.
