You know, my whole life, everyone I know, and everyone on TV and documentaries and everything, has always pronounced that planet "YUR-ehn-us," unless they're actively being funny. Like, it is my understanding that you must intentionally distort the word to make it dirty - I found "yur-AY-nus" to be really, *reaching* for a joke, like thinking just a picture of a hot dog is inherently hilarious for being vaguely phallic, even when I was eight.
But that seems implausible to me now, given the frequency and context with which I see that play on words made. Is this just a localization thing? Is "yur-AY-nus" actually a widely recognized legit standard pronunciation?
