The scenario was ridiculous, but I liked the writing.
And I suspect this is where we will not be able to reconcile - if the scenario is this ridiculous, I am inherently incapable of accepting the writing on its own merits (which, in this case, I don't think they had any, but that's another discussion), because if a story is a linear narrative, then the scenario that starts the ball rolling CANNOT be divorced from what ensues. A bad scenario AUTOMATICALLY makes the writing that follows bad.
