::stares:: NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NONONONONONONONO!! God Damn you!! You had a nice idea, Dick reaching out to his bro for redemption! It was a shiny happy idea that made all my secret places tingle! BUT WHAT THE FUCK?! Bruce's message was such crap! Yeah, I do admit to liking the idea of Bruce finally showing some freaking responsibility to his kid about never really getting the angry angry boy some help and instead just sending him out to kick the crap out of people, but honestly? His message reads like a spontaneous burst of OOC. I can't really see Bruce just suddenly spilling his guts (as much as Bruce CAN spill his guts) in the same characterization he's been given over the past couple of years in this manner. Also? When the hell did Dick's attitude change? If anybody was actually going to reach out to Jays, I would've put my money on Dick, yes - he knew him before he was well and truly psycho (unlike Tim) and wasn't crazy loaded down with guilt over his death(unlike Bruce) but so far he's been just as cut off as Bruce. NEITHER of those two tried to get Jason back on the straight and narrow after he was resurrected, they spent their time just trying to lock his ass up! Ugh, this was actually a GREAT idea, one that was really the only way to go if jason was to get on the path to redemption. The execution, the seemingly random way it sprung out of nowhere amidst all other handling of these characters, had me filled with the utter sense of fail and frustration. I don't know, can there be some true salvaging from this? A hint of hope that this idea will stay around and get handled in a sensical way? Bruce is dead but maybe that would make it easier on Jason, that weight of Bruce's shadow, his judgement, and the sense of failing his only resemblance to a father being lifted may help Jason find a better direction, especially if Dick is willing to man the fuck up and help his brother. Because they ARE brothers, in arms if nothing else. And Dick is the kind of guy to want to give someone a second chance. This is a plot that needs to be handled in a considerate fashion, with build up and logical progression, not rushed into in the span of a few pages and seemingly discarded just as quickly. ::puts soap box away, pets Jason:: I'll just shut up with my bullshit and go lie down now.
