Personally, I've always liked Blondes
The other nerd reference from Booster Gold #20

If my knowledge of the fifties Archie comics is correct, they got Betty's hair wrong. She wore it down, with a headband on top. The ponytail, however, is the more recognizable hairstyle, so I can see why they used it instead.

It makes sense if you've ever watched Happy Days. The Fonz always used to hit the jukebox like that, iirc.

See, I don't know know much about the Fonz, other than that Booster's a fan. Do the girls think he's a jerk because he's imitating the Fonz?

I still stubbornly believe that the girls are Betty and Veronica, however.

They may just think he’s a jerk because a lot of what Fonzie did would not seem the slightest bit cool in ‘real life.

It wouldn't surprise me if the creators were going for a twofer and were referencing Happy Days as well as attempting to evoke classic Betty and Veronica with the girls.

The Fonz was supposed to be irresistible to anyone in a poodle skirt, so I think the joke is that acting like Fonzie won't actually get you laid.

Youtube surprisingly doesn't have much in the way of Fonz clips, but this clip sums him up nicely.

That clip is like a greatest hits of the Fonz.

Happy Days was a 1970s show (hence the title—a look back on the "good times" of the 1950s). The Fonz does not exist in this timeframe.

As someone else said, Happy Days was a nostalgic sitcom from the 70's set in the 50's...so the girls have no clue what Booster's doing. Just a weird guy who walked into the soda shop and hit the jukebox and then made a strange noise.

Huh...Happy Days was a sitcom that was supposed to be about the wholesome Cunningham family, but quickly got taken over by the Fonz...the cool bad-boy everybody knew and who just had to snap his fingers to have girls chasing after him. If this is one of the old tv shows Booster watched to learn 20th Century culture....that explains a lot....
