Plastic Surgery Zombies
Four pages from Runaways #7, with more proof that Takeshi Miyazawa CAN draw characters that look at least kind of like guys... as long as it's not Chase or Victor.

Behold, THIS is what shall become of all those tartlets who go under the knife constantly.

EDIT: Apologies about the size. I'm working on getting it to something more manageable.

Oh, goddess, is that last bit true.

When Chase was storming out, I initially thought he was Karolina, still pissed over the Xavin situation, until the panel when he was actually going out the door... And even then I had glazed over in his rant a bit, and had to go back and reread that panel when I got to the next panel with Karolina and Nico at the beach.

I can definitely believe this would have happened if they got away with it. I'm very excited about the idea of rampant plastic surgery based blond bimbo zombies from Malibu, though in all fairness sounds more like something from the video game industry then the music industry.

I still have no problem with Miyazawa, but I'm beginning to really loathe the colorist. It's not quite so bad here, but the beach scene --!

That said, the plastic surgery zombies have got me optimistic about the plot again.

How does the plastic surgery affect the zombie transformation exactly? The scans don't really make it clear.

Magic spell encoded in the chorus of a song.

That's the physical 'weakness' that makes them vulnerable to the spell.

All spells need a 'hook' to hang on, according to our friend with the cane, and since they're trying to zombify LA, they went with plastic surgery.

This isn't Christina Strain, is it?

I'm pretty sure it is, but I won't swear to it.

Ok, I haven't read the issue, I'm just making assumption here, so forgive me if I'm wrong...

But I seriously dislike the implication that getting plastic surgery makes one a bimbo. Even smart and educated women may want to change something of their body.

Motto, although hesitantly just cause I dislike the fact that we live in a society that daily informs us that aspects of our appearance are Wrong and Simply Will Not Do. I'd prefer if we all lived in a happy land of sunshine and sweet unicorns where everybody was perfectly happy with their body as it is but, seeing as I think we don't live in that land, I'll certainly stand up for someone's right to change their body, whether it's a tumor removed or a birthmark.

I mean, I like birthmarks, birthmarks are neat, but hey, if that's what you think, I mean, that's fine, but I'm jus' sayin', that looks like a perfectly fine birthmark you got right there...

Soooo...WHY are they trying to zombify LA? Did the Runaways go evil when I wasn't looking?

This is the villain, Val, a shock-jock that Chase currently works for (in a non-evil capacity), who has been clearly evil since his first appearance (issue 1 of this volume), and has demonstrated some sort of superpowers, or else an effort- (and visual-) less magical abilities.

The guy with the cane is a former associate of Nico's parents.
