Part of me says, "Don't chew Johns to shreds over this, given that Stargirl's his way of paying homage to his dead little sister.
I hate this kind of thinking. No one gets to sell out their dead kin to the point they have action figures and then I'm supposed to adjust my thinking to accommodate their therapy. I have no sympathy to someone who actually thinks it's a good idea to memorialize a deceased loved by dressing it up in spandex and hawking the memory to comic fans. And while I will concede some of my ire may come from the fact I feel slightly creepy for perv'ing over the tulpa of some guys dead sister, I think my point stands.
This, by the way, is why I never want to go to a comic convention, because I worry that I'd not survive asking Johns what it felt like to cash in on such a tragedy and if he had any tips for other aspiring comic writers who wanted to do the same.
