Looking for Hulk story
I vaguely remember a Hulk story where the Hulk finds himself in a regular town where everyone is nice to him, and no one seems to notice he is huge and green. The Hulk wonders if he can be happy there, then the town vanishes like Brigadoon. I think someone on the old board compared it to a Twilight Zone story. Anyone know what I mean?

For legality, some selections from Bruce Banner's subconscious.
EDIT: Only three pages. Just in case.

Let's take a look inside Bruce Banner's mind, thanks to the Ringmaster and Doc Samson.

In a weird way, I'm surprised Bruce Banner is as stable as he is.

I once wrote an e-mail to Peter David, asking him if Brian Banner went to a mental institution as a result of this. The Bill Mantlo story (INCREDIBLE HULK #312, where it was revealed that Brian Banner killed his wife) said he went to a mental institution, but another Peter David story (INCREDIBLE HULK #403) said Brian was able to coerce Little Bruce into testifying that Rebecca Banner had just fallen. He said he planned to resolve this.

INCREDIBLE HULK #-1 revealed that Brian had bragged to someone about coercing Little Bruce and someone overheard him. Whoops. Brian was dragged away raging it was all Bruce's fault.

Didn't we decide in a previous post that we wouldn't post any more PAD stuff?

I think the Hulk story you're looking for is "Heaven is a Very Small Place" from HULK #147:

Beat me to it. And I'm too lazy to go check, but didn't they include this as the Hulk story in that Holiday tabloid-sized comic? Hell of a Christmas, Hulk.

Doing some checking, yes.

Quick research says it was also reprinted in INCREDIBLE HULK MEGAZINE from 1998 and in the ROY THOMAS MASTERWORKS hardcover.

This Hulk arc and ATLANTIS CHRONICLES(a crime that's not in print) are the best things in comics I've read of his. Tying the Hulk into childhood abuse fit perfectly in with why the green Hulk acts and thinks like a small, angry child. It violated absolutely nothing in the past and in fact solidified the character and opened more options. I wouldn't say it's quite as important a retrofit as Alan Moore making Swamp Thing an elemental and never Alec Holland, but it's of a kind with it. Few writers are clever enough to do a change that both reformats the character but doesn't do damage and I respect that.
