The art of video game covers
Kids, back when we old timers were your age and Pacman was all we could think about, there were great up video game covers created by talented artists. MightyGodViking has reached back, taken that great art, and done his own thing. I honestly was going to ramble on, but I have no words to describe how awesome this stuff is. The language fail! 's me.

Now while I LOVE BlackCat with all my heart, MightyGodViking's work with Photoshop makes me cry and ROTLF.
I found these at Mighty God Viking's blog.

There are some GEMS in here SO WORTHY of being part of scans_daily, even though they are not comic book related.
Follow the link above and bring extra underwear. You will p@@ your pants laughing.

For legality, the actual Superman video game cover from the games mentioned. Before MightyGodViking got his hands on it.

p.s.
I am still crying from laughter.
p.p.s.
Big pics, not kind for modem users.

Just focusing on that crotch shot, huh?

This is an example of Words fail! me.

I know every single scans_daily member is into pixel bondage.

Best. Game. Ever.

and the piece de resistance...

*edit* So I am not hearing the chuckles. Read the modified wording to get the joke.
(Mr. J was right).

Man, I wish I'd known about that before I made this for my Rock Band band! Still, this cuts the time for any follow ups considerably!

And yet some people think games were good before the SNES.

...you mean NES, right?

And home games, right?

You seem to be confusing "good" with "frustratingly hard in a cheap way".

Never knew Super Mario Bros. or its sequels to be "frustratingly hard in a cheap way."

Of course, practice helps in a lot of games. If I had to guess from the avatar, perhaps games in which you can restart every time you make a mistake are more your preference?

Super Mario Bros. was the exception, not the rule. Now, let's talk about Battletoads, and Megaman, and Ghouls & Ghosts, and Contra, and Ninja Gaiden. Of course, they could only do so much with technology they had. But it's those limitations, I believe, that make NES games inferior to SNES in terms of gameplay, being more infuriating than enjoyable.

I don't know, I had a lot of fun with Mega Man and Contra, at least. Ninja Gaiden and especially Battletoads, I'll concede, though.

It was more a mix, but really, games back then weren't about reaching the end so much as being the best. I still like games where the goal is simply to do your best, then do even better the next time.

Available on every video game website or magazine to ever do a "worst box art" story, ever ever. Usually as #1.

I remember that one from a contest some gaming website had to write amusingly scathing reviews of video game covers.

The cover alone was kind of mildly amusing, I guess, but what I found REALLY funny was the winning entrant's description of the thing.

Of course, there's the fake Megaman 9 cover that Capcom made in a homage to the notoriously bad Megaman 1/2 box cover art. Which is one of the reasons why Megaman 9 is one of the best Megaman games ever (well, and the gameplay, and the music, and weapons that are actually reasonable balanced and useful.)

Kind of like DVD covers that promise all sorts of excitement and drama not found in the movie itself?

1. Insert cartridge
2. Turn on game & TV
3. Drop acid
4. Stare at the screen while the game starts up and focus on the colors. Feel the acid "drop" in your brain
5. As soon as the music starts, let your mind escape the confines of your brain
6. You win when you can come back down.... IF you come down

I found these fairly funny - I got some chuckles out of them - but it was far from a 'crying with laughter' experience. I sympathize, though - the same sort of thing tends to happen to me when I tell people to check out sites I find hilarious. I did like 'Oh! I Say' and 'Gay French Mario Brothers'. (Also, I have an issue with the 'I am a Vegas Showgirl' one - that's funny and all, but isn't it pretty obvious that the view makes it somewhere in Europe - Monte Carlo, probably? I would have made it 'I Have a Gambling Problem' or 'I Am About To Get Fleeced'.)
Oh, and - I'm fairly certain you didn't mean to do this, but you realize that you've just said you were 'rolling on the laughing floor'? That's an interesting mental image - were you tickling it?
