More Batgirl love
I'm not actually sure that Babs!Batgirl actually needs more love, since about thirty percent of those who frequent Newsarama love her, but I'm posting this anyway. It's my favorite Babs as Batgirl story and it's also a really cute Robin story. (No bondage, sorry.)

The basic premise of the storyline is that a local Gotham mall has been broken into. The dynamic duo rush to the mall, only to discover Catwoman. She claims innocence, saying that robbing a mall is beneath her touch. Batman apprehends her, while he sends Robin off to discover what really happened. (Note for BatCat shippers: Batman apprehending Catwoman involves him laying on top of her atop a roof. Yeah, even Dick can see through that one.) Robin's not too happy to be sent off to investigate while his partner canoodles, but he does obey Batman, and ends up running into...

The two begin to investigate, but run into trouble with the first bad guy. Neither is good at teamwork, which I might expect in Barbara's case, but seems weird in Robin's case, since he's used to having a partner. I think this is more of a situation in which both characters are attempting to take charge of the scene and neither is succeeding, however.

And they bond over a common fear of Batman. Nice attempt on Barbara's part to establish herself as Batwoman, but it quickly gets shot down by Dick. Damnit, Dick, what's wrong with you?

At any rate, the two do eventually learn how to work together, after Babs comes up with the brilliant idea of using a marble to trip one of the bad guys. Remember BatClass, distraction is everything.

After the case is all wrapped up, the two sit around and talk.

I believe so. Although the BoP Omens & Origins would argue differently, to my knowledge they never actually date while they were Batgirl and Robin. When Barbara was shot, Dick would've been running the Teen Titans and was with Starfire at the time, I believe.

It was only after that, as Dick was working in Bludhaven and Gotham regularly, and once Babs was Oracle, that they were in an actual committed relationship (after thoroughly angsting about everything first, of course).

The comic that their having sex while Dick was engaged to Starfire was (I think) in the Nightwing Annual 2, which (I think) was published well after they had been going out in the comics. So, I think some people choose to ignore it. (Because it is hard to believe that Dick would be that stupid and thoughtless toward both Babs and Kory.)

Yeah. I hate the characterization of Dick being unable to check himself. I mean, yes, physicality (and therefore sex and physical affection) is a big part of his personality, but a well-written Dick is also fairly emotionally intelligent, I'd say.

I can see him falling into bed with Babs or Kory if it feels right in the moment, but not if he's currently committed to someone else. He's too bright and too caring to not realize how he'd be hurting the other two.

Love Babs, love Robin, love Batman. But I'm a little meh on this until the end, with the focus on teamwork. Which I do appreciate.

I just like their original team-ups better than the re-imagining. Now if somebody could do re-imagining flashbacks with the original status quo...
I'd probably like that, too. I freaking hate that she got de-aged! It's wrong, and diminishing. IMO.

Anyway, Babs!love is always appreciated. And it is very sweet to think of them going into a photo booth and Dick saving the pics. Good Team is a lovely sentiment.

PS: I'm so glad Dick *does* have a scrapbook. Not, hopefully, full of only mugshots.

	PS: About the Newsarama thing, well... I just think there's more going on that just love for one character or another. For one thing, hate for another version of said character. Because of a hate of change and that particular mask. Plus nostalgia, remembering Babs and her form-fitting uniform in heels, a lack of (current) comics knowledge and a few other things. That is from a favorite comic, that ran for twenty issues and then got absorbed into then failing Detective Comics, saving it. It starred incredibly fun team-ups of Batgirl and Robin (plus solo stories) and Huntress and Man-Bat and the Outsider showed up, and ...it's one of my very favorite series ever, if not my favorite, and I've collected all twenty issues. Want to see some? It is, for me, a perfect way to write Babs and Dick--the way they were in Batman Family.

I'm curious as to why you like her being four versus seven years younger.

Because they can relate to each other better when they're closer in ages? Or maybe it's my conservative upbringing. Or maybe it's because in my personal canon, Babs was secretly crushing on Dick while he was running around in short pants making googly eyes at her, but it feels kinda wrong for a grown up woman to crush on a kid. *shrugs* I dunno.
