The problem being that this is being SOLD by the "brain trust" as a "villain asshole in control" storyline. In their online interviews about this, all they've talked about is how utterly unbearable Jonah is as a person, "with a heart so small you'd need a microscope to find it," in Mark Waid's words
And Slott said, "[JJ]’s wonderfully rounded out. He’s a proud American; he’s very proud of his son the astronaut; he’s very petty; he very much likes being in the spotlight. He can’t stand that Spider-Man — Parker — kind of gets on his nerves, too. There’s all these different aspects of his personality. How do you explain Jonah? If JJ retains the characterization he's had so far in BND, I don't think it'll be that bad.
