This was of course long before Yul Brynner and, later, Patrick Stewart made baldness sexy.

Before the "bald" reveal, my s_d-corrupted mind had me completing Mickey's "Look what I read about Swoon Strong" with "...he's gay."

Absolutely no indication at all that in the future, she'll be driving a monster SUV across Alaska with an antlered polar bear in the back seat.

Remember when girls use to wear bows in their hair? Weird times.

That splash page... they all look a little Leader-ish in the cranium department.

I'm thinking we need a "When Golden Age Comics Were AWESOME" tag.

Once again, thank you for something that absolutely hit the spot. The dialogue is so real; I love the family's flippant reaction to Patsy getting all melodramatic and quasi-Shakespearean about her heartbreak. You can tell too that Buzz is used to being yanked up and down by her over-reactions. The art is clear and well laid out, the characters' face are expressive. It's great stuff, and it was just one of any number of back-up strips appearing in that issue.

And now in current continuity stories like these were comics Patsy's mm drew that she semi based off of Patsy. Thus allowing the stories to still exist kind of.

This is awesome. 'Swoon Strong' - hee hee! Patty being Shakespearean - Mickey being a brat - "You don't want a man - you want a well!" It's all good stuff. Given that this sort of story showed up frequently during the 40s/50s, I'm not surprised that we seem to be obsessed with the period - who wouldn't be obsessed with an era that has so much comic potential?
