Drug Week, featuring Bear Nuts.
I've been thinking of pimping the really, really fun webcomic Bear Nuts here for a while, but never gotten around to it.

'Drug Week', however, has given me a kick in the ass, via an excuse!

The immediate obvious description of Bear Nuts is 'Care Bears gone horribly wrong' (see cut text), but that's not...quite accurate.

Aesthetically, that's exactly what they are - candy coloured bears with ideosyncratic personalities and appropriate names and tummy symbols. But the Bear Nuts crew live in a zoo, fight only among themselves (ok, they have SOME conflicts with the other zoo animals), and aren't particularly prone to adventures...

Anyway...how does Drug Week give me an excuse to post it?

Well, the five strips I'm posting (from the 15 page third arc) feature Tanked Bear and Prozac Bear...two totally different versions of drug users...

We open with Tanked (and Evil)...

I break here (at an awkward point, since I don't want to cut the strips up), to mention that, obviously, Tanked doesn't learn the lesson 'Zac is trying to teach him. I mean...would he be Tanked Bear if he got SOBER?

Anyway...onward to Prozac!

Rage issues == Prozac given rage control drugs. Makes sense, really.

Unfortunately, this means he's rather dependant on the drugs to keep him stable... Let's see how that goes.

That's Lech Bear 'Zac just smacked. While it was Evil and his treatment of Tanked that set him off, Lech probably did something to deserve a pop in the nose, too.

This is not going to end well for Gay and Nerd. (They're planning to dye Gay's fur, for the record.)

To find out what happens next, read the strip - it'll be worth it, trust me.

There should be a Ritalin bear too. (Has Ritalin ever been given to animals, other than in Phase 0 clinical trials? I know Prozac and other SSRIs are sometimes prescribed for pet cats and dogs.)

There's already 3 drug related bears! Tanked, Prozac, and Crack.

Although, to be fair, Crack's tweakiness, despite his name and tummy symbol, doesn't seem to be drug related (at least, unlike Tanked, he's never seen doing drugs). He's just naturally tweaked.

He could use a leveller, actually.

Well it amused me enough (especially writing "fatso" on a hippopotamus). Sadly, like Nerd Bear, I also built a Star Trek model /shame

Prozac bear cute, while being all homicidal on his fellow bears. I would love to see SYMBYAX interact with him.
