Darkseid gets lonely.

This is from The New Gods #11 and New Gods #6 (from the 1984 series). It's written and illustrated by Jack Kirby.

But later...

Aww...

Is it just me, or does that machine on page 18 (3rd scan) look like violates the laws of euclidian geometry?

Darkseid: "I always have my coffee while I'm resurrecting minions! Everyone knows that!"

Parademons: "Of course we do Sir!"

To we beings who live in a mere three dimensions of space and one of time... yes. Jack Kirby lived in so many, many more...

All the great ones do

Before becoming a comic creator, Jack Kirby was a shop teacher.

He was forced to retire because his students projects kept attracting the hounds of tindalos.

For Christmas one year I bought my brother a book full of "impossible objects" like these crafted by artists. I dread the day he finally begins working on one of his own...

Looking at that machine again, I'm starting to wonder what a Jack Kirby Windows desktop would look like.

I think McCloud used part of this image in Understanding Comics.

So Darkseid resurrects Desaad by urinating on the floor? "ZIP!", indeed.
