Good Charlotte...but not the band. Possibly NSFW.
Okay, I would like to apologize beforehand to the community and mods if this doesn't apply for the community - it's my first time to post here in this version of S_D.

Anyway, I'd like to introduce you to how Japan can manage to mangle stereotypes, and then keep it part of their culture, resulting in WTF-ery that made me giggle like a school girl.

Let me introduce to you:

Charlotte.

Okay. It's from the BLEACH manga, and he's supposedly a form of corrupted spirit being that essentially ate other spirits to become powerful. However, i find it a mystery as to why he's essentially dressed as an okama. My eyes burned at the realization that his pubes are showing. ick.

And, just like manga...he has a power-up form.

He can fire a ... heart-shaped energy blast from his chest ("Beautiful Charlotte Cuuhlhourne's Final Holy Wonderful Pretty Super Magnum Sexy Sexy Glamorous Cero! - He puts his hands in a heart shape and fires an extremely wide cero which is very difficult to avoid -- source from the BLEACH wikia, see the links..."). OMFG. and yes, his pubic hair seems to have been...uhm, fixed.

There seems to be a trend for this sort of character. In a "brother manga," One Piece:

Emperio Ivankov.

Apparently loosely based on the classic Dr. Frankenfurter. Was the ...uhm...Queen of an island full of homosexual transvestites. And a powerful pirate. And has the ability to pump people full of hormones that could heal them, change genders, the works. AND: has the Death Wink. the force of his wink - i don't know if it's the wind generated by his lashes or what - can literally set cannonballs shooting back. not to mention the implied deadly force that they can do to a person. Oh-kayyyyy.

Interesting thing, though, is that both are by nature with masculine traits, totally jarring with the feminine overtones. It's like Danny the Street from Doom Patrol, or the Village People.

edit: tried to use RT entry system, all link tags got wiped out. References as follows: onepiece.wikia.com, bleach.wikia.com. was able to restore links, though..

That's... different.

I think a few braincells just went up and quit, forsaking my brain until I forget all about this.

..which is off-limits to girls. Though am not sure of that, given the Japanese thing for crossdressing.

Well, extreme Okama's fit into the One Piece world since the entire planet is filled with weirdos. Charolette definitly feels like he accidently wandered off of OP world.

Well One Piece did it first with Mr. 2 Bon Clay. In fact in one piece they have their own form of Martial arts Okama Kempo. But one shouldn't be suprised as they also have fighting cooks, doctors, navigators, carpenters and vilolin players. Basicly its a world where you have to fight for your dreams even if those dreams are to wear fishnet stockings.

The Japanese just aren't happy until someone's in drag. It's a common plot point and theme in their comics, cartoons, prime-time dramas, comedy variety shows...

Yeah, even their most serious manga and anime will tend to have feminized male characters, if not outright drag queens. I suspect this may have something to do with their tradition of having all-male acting troupes...

and I have to say: Charlotte has a BIG bulge. Happy Funland, indeed.

Unless someone forgets the lube. Then I imagine it's Happy Emergencyroomland.
