Some Dustin Nguyen artwork
This is mostly a re-post of stuff I had posted in the old comm. But it's very pretty, so it's worth looking at twice.

A No Mans Land-inspired piece:

Mini-Gothamites:

Mr. Freeze and Batman, as imagined in some sort of fairy tale:

Art from the DCU Christmas special (Batman = Good King Wenceslas, here), showing you just how beautiful and expressive his watercolour work is:

And for legality, here's a scan from issue 5 of the Huntress: Year One mini-series... featuring Keanu Reeves as Bruce Wayne! (I say that, because when he says "Are you crazy? Are you crazy?" to Babs here, I can't help but think of the bit early on in the Matrix when Morpheus is one the phone with Keanu Neo, who is all "This is crazy! This is crazy!" But that's just me.)

Who's the lady in the red jacket sitting on Clayface's shoulder in the "mini-Gothamites" pic? She can't be Sasha Bordeaux; no robot eye.

Also, interesting that Babs shows up as Batgirl in that one instead of Oracle. Hmmm...

I believe the general consensus is that she's Annie (I think that's the name), from a particularly tear-jerking Clayface episode of B:TAS.

Whose appearance was, in turn, modeled on Natalie Portman's first role (in Leon: the Professional).

No, it's Annie, who was a lost part of Clayface from the Batman animated series.

But yeah, Huntress: Year One's continuity doesn't quite make sense.

Oh right, her. Has she ever made an appearance in the regular comic continuity?

No, BTAS only. None of the Clayfaces they've used in the comic have the "splitting into multiple people" power.

I wouldn't read too much into the fact that Babs is in her Batgirl costume. This was first uploaded well before any Battle for the Cowl bullshit was revealed, and Nguyen has a predilection for the 90's Animated Series - He loves their design for Mister Freeze and stuff like that, so he probably liked their design for Barbara, too.

Fair enough. Interesting to see BTAS-only characters interspersed with comics-only characters like Hush.

And yay for an artist that doesn't inexplicably hate Cass!

Weird, I can't see sailorlibra's comment. I assume that's where the reference to Gordon was made, all I can see is a mention of the Question.

Yeah, I don't know what happened to her comment here, but she said she didn't notice the Commish or the Question. Hence the confusion. (Gordon is there, Question is not.)

I do not like the portrayal of Barbara as Batgirl. It's annoying that she's the only one wearing her old costume. Artists have adapted to Catwoman's spiffy new costume, why can't they adapt to the fact that Babs doesn't wear a bat costume anymore?

And, ok, if Didio gets his way, Babs will probably become Batgirl again, but this was drawn before that change, so there's no real excuse for Nguyen's choice.

Again, Nguyen is an obvious fan of the old Animated Series, hence his inclusion of the 'Annie' character and Barbara in her Batgirl costume. I don't think he meant any insult, but that's just what he prefers. He does Two-Face in his animated-style outfit, too, and his Mister Freeze is the same.

Yeah, I mean, I'm pretty sure he has drawn Barbara as Oracle in Detective at some point, so it's not as if he's not aware or something.

Art is very pretty indeed. That's definitely Annie, her feet are blending into Hagen's shoulder. Alfred's bringing Bruce a martini? Looks like Bruce is pouting because there's no olive.

The legality scan reinforces a pattern I'm seeing where boy Batkids storm out in a huff, but girl Batkids are fired. Are you crazy? Are you crazy? What, are you dense? Are you retarded or something?

LOL, I try not to count this scene at canon.

But I do think it's clear by the last panel that he's not really firing her, he just lost his temper because his parents' portrait was smushed. It just seems OOC at this point in his Batman career to be all "YOU'RE FIRED!". That's the kind of thing later-Batman would say. (But then again, if Huntress is in town, Babs should be Oracle, so it's all messed up.)

Considering how easily that mini descended into arsetasticness in the last couple of issues, not counting it as canon is an easy thing to accomplish.

It's Batwoman from the animated series, more than likely. She/they didn't have shocking red hair. Then again you never actually saw the hair (when costumed) either.
