This is a great example of how the sloppiness of Millar's work frustrates me to no end. It's mostly great writing, but unless mutants need a lot, lot less water than regular humans, you won't be able to survive solely on the moisture from eating bugs for twenty-six days, especially if you're injured. Kangaroo rats that have adapted to life in the desert, maybe; people, not so much. Millar could have stuck a teensy little spring at the bottom of that hole so easily.
