Thai 'Spider-Man' rescues autistic child
It's nice to know that, despite him selling his soul and cheating on his wife in America, Spider-Man's still a hero in other countries.

An unusual disguise has helped a Bangkok fireman rescue an eight-year-old boy who had climbed on to a third-floor window ledge, Thai police say.

The firefighter dressed up as the comic book superhero Spider-Man in order to coax the boy, who is autistic, from his dangerous perch.

D'awww. That's awesome - although honestly, Thai must have some crazy ass fire drills. I'm jealous.

But a remark by his mother about his passion for comic superheroes prompted fireman Somchai Yoosabai to rush back to the station, where he kept a Spider-Man costume in his locker.

!

The context provided below helped, but at first I wondered what the guy's issues were.

Nice story.

Yes, after hearing "he ran back to his locker to get his Spider-Man costume, my first thought was "Clearly, he is Spider-Man!"

Yes. In some ways, he's more Spider-Man than that guy in the second picture.

Motto times one zillion.

At last, a superhero who exists in real life and actually does something heroic.

I think it's damn awesome that he'd have a Spidey suit AND an Ultraman suit at the station.

...where does it say he has an Ultraman suit? I don't see anything about that in the article.

That's like the crowning moment of heartwarming there. :D

BTW on the scan, why's Spidey's mask scowling?

In the scan's defense, that was when Paul Jenkins was on, and it was actually worth reading most of the time...

I think it's just the position of the mask and the way Buckingham draws it...

Hooray for Thai Spiderman! But I must wonder why he kept a Spiderman outfit in his locker just in case... kind of odd.

But boo for anything involving One More Day and the current "god I want to throw a bucket of water on whoever decided it was a good idea" shit going on in Marvel. >:(

I really loved this. I posted it over at noscans. It made me a little less cynical about the world.
