Let me put it this way. Spider-Man comics were the very first American comics I ever read, back when I was a tiny little innocent geek-in-the-making. Peter and Mary Jane were my OTP before I even knew what a OTP is. I stopped reading American comics entirely after Marvel offed Mary Jane with the plane, and only started reading them again a few years ago when I found scans_daily, which convinced me that not all American comics are shit and helped me pick the good ones.
Spider-Man selling his marriage to the Devil really offended me, and Marvel jabbing at Peter/MJ fans ("if you want a married Peter you must want him to grow old and die!" and "Wine More Day"? Seriously?) offended me even worse.
So, yes, I do refuse to give my money to anything that associates itself with that, even if it's just a single section of a single comic. After all, as a customer, the only way I can effectively express my annoyance is by voting with my wallet.
I suppose, in the future, after Peter and MJ get back together, I might feel content enough to buy old Incredible Hercules TPBs. We'll see.
