Oh Remember, Remember the Fifth of November...

Damn Hollywood. I find myself now conditioned perfectly to read this book and watch the damn movie today. :P

Don't watch the movie. Just read the book.

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; seriously, I can't think of any worse way to remember Guy Fawkes Day than that shitty filth.

Uh... damn, man. I've heard a lot of arguments as to the relative merits of both, but this is the first time I've heard the movie referred to as 'filth'. What's filthy about it?

I prefer the movie over the book, actually. Not nearly as depressing.

While I hated parts of the movie, the speech that borrowed heavily from this was quite well done. It's reinterpretation and adaption to modern times fit quite nicely.

True the movie was nowhere near as awesome as the book I think it still has its merits and doesn't really earn the title of filth.

I reserve that specifically for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie.

I'm guessing it's more "shitty filth" due to your fanboyism than any particular flaw in the film.

I wager that impartial people would agree that the movie is significantly better than average. I personally thought it was excellent.

There's a batman story which uses Guy Fawkes' night as a plot point

It goes like this: Bruce Wayne finds out through his day job (and night commitments) that some terrorist is going to bomb the houses of Parliament. He tries to raise the alarm with the various authorities, but they laugh at him and tell him stuff and nonsense, because who would actually do it on that day. The events are juxtaposed with the history of Guy Fawkes' night. Can anyone remember that story, please? I read it once over ten years ago, and it's still stayed with me.

Ah, my third favourite part of V For Vendetta. Valerie's letter and the speech to the statue of justice being first and second, respectively.

As much as I like love those bits, my very favorite part comes near the end, where Evey finds out what's really under V's mask.

A review of the V for Vendetta movie asked why V would want to blow up Parliament if there wasn't a Parliament anymore.

There's also the "Well, if there's No Parliament anymore, why keep the building?" reasoning.

Because I needed to love him more.
