Hm, in Wanted (the comic, not the movie) they mentioned that the first supervillains were a gang of guys who robbed banks nude, as no one would look at them out of embarassment, and none of the early superheroes wanted to be photographed grappling with a group of naked men in the street for the same reason.
Maybe they were working something along the same line, except stupider as they already posed semi-nude in magazines in the first place?
