Batman Versus Nightwing

Batman goes super. Also, crazy. Batman goes super and crazy. Problems Ensue.

From Superman/Batman #55, December 2008. Written by Michael Green and Mike Johnson, Art by Rags Morales and John Dell. I posted it on the old s_d, but only the "Pick on someone your own size" page.

Yes, but at a fraction of the brightness, and it's not like Bruce moonbathes either, he lurks in the shadows.

I quite liked this but I thought that Dick might have had the smarts to tip his sticks with kryptonite, just in case.

IIRC Alfred notes that when Bruce comes back to his senses, he's going to feel REALLY awful about the fact he broke Dick's jaw, a few ribs and basically kicked the shit out of him. I assume he did.

Hopefully he'll feel some small measure of guilt over beating the stuffing out of Selina, too.

What about Selina? Looks like she could have had an internal hemorrage. This is an elseworld, right?

I enjoyed this story very much, especially this issue. But I wish we'd gotten to Bruce face the repercussions of beating the hell out of these two.

Kryptonite sticks would have been really cool, too, even though the story couldn't have Batman taken down yet.

It would be nice if he expressed how awful he felt to Dick.

Superman got his powers back and Batman lost them.

Presumably, Bruce felt really, really bad and made it up to Dick and Selina. Not appearing in this story arc.

Crazy red-eyed superbat reminded me of HARDAC in a big way.

I always hated capes.

Heh! Me, too. But then the battle for the cape and cowl -- how about that for irony?

Man that episode sacred the crap outta me when I was a kid.

Especially the part when 'Batman' lifts up his shirt and we see a bunch of loose wires and metal with no explanation as to what was going on.

It was like a weird nightmarish body horror movie of an after-school cartoon...

Wow, i didint read where it was from a first, so i was thinking it was either a omac Batman or a elseworld story where he's a vampire...AGAIN.

It's even more awful, he's so out of character here, kind of terminator Batman: crime is crime, prime fonction EXTERMINATE :o

Geez, I'm sure Bruce had more than a few cold stares at him at the next Batman Family BBQ. "I think I'll pass on the ribs, since you need TEETH for those!"

I love this story. Though I wish we could also see Alfred's saying how he's not sure he'll ever forgive Bruce for breaking Nightwing. I would totally have loved it if we saw Bruce actually having to remember this and feel guilty.

If you can remember what issue that happened in I can try to track it down and post it for you.

This makes me think of the one-shot story, JLA: Foreign Bodies, where the members accidently trade bodies with other members of the league while battling a villain named Psykosis. Bruce and Clark, of course, switch with each other. But in this story, Bruce has quite a different reaction to his situation, when Oracle asked him how it felt being Superman.

Sorry, no scan but I can quote, "Exhilarating. Dangerous. The temptation to fall back on the powers instead of relying on skill, training and intellect could easily lead to an erosion of judgment. I'll be glad to be rid of them when this is over."
