Halloween week - THE DARK DRINKS BLOOD, by Junji Ito

This is the first story from the VOICES IN THE DARK anthology, which I've begun translating.

I've had a gloomy, depressing week, so it probably wasn't a good idea to bring you another story by Junji Ito. He's the guy behind UZUMAKI and GYO, so things are almost guaranteed to go disastrously wrong.

To remedy this, I've tried to post only the pages that contain an uplifting story of teenage love. Unfortunately this has meant excising almost every page of the story.

This is our heroine, Nami. OK, things could still theoretically end well for her at this point. Right?

Ah, the classic meet-cute, the foundation of every quirky romantic comedy. Sure he gets brutally rejected, but that's just necessary to make their eventual pairing all the more satisfying! Right?!

A few more weeks of purging and recurring nightmares later -

... nnnow it's getting kind of creepy but if you look at it from a different angle, a creepier, stalkier angle, isn't it actually kind of romantic?

These were all the pages I was able to post under my earlier self-imposition.

This story is complete at my blog, but I recommend just renting NOTTING HILL.
