These are from Detective Comics #858 in which Kate's origin is revealed and it involves a twin sister.

Around the time of 52 when the new Batwoman appeared I couldn't care less about her. Now she is one of my favorite characters.

	Art's still really good, but it doesn't have the same pop that the art the past few issues did (Intentional, I'm sure, since this is the flashback sequence), which I guess goes to show just how much the coloring impacted the final product. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	I like the coloring better here than in the previous issues. The old stuff made the story too dreamlike, and I couldn't connect with it. However, Rucka's writing still isn't hooking me. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Yeah, it's still nice, but I'm not liking it quite as much, possibly because these scenes are a bit simpler and I prefer it when lots of stuff is going on, like Alice's over-the-top costume (Reply to this) (Parent)

It makes me so, so, so sad to see these comics backed up and lying on the shelves of my comics stores in multiple copies. This series just looks bloody amazing and if it's going to get canceled due to low sales, I will weep tears of blood which will then segue nicely into Kate's epic wig while she's gritting her teeth and kicking a stupid fanboy in the head two panels across the comic book page.

Definitely going to save up for the rest of these and buy them all when I get the chance.

	Detective Comics will never be cancelled and everybody (including Rucka and Williams) knew that Batwoman headlining was only temporary until Bruce comes back (Rucka even mentioned in an interview that there is a definite cut-off date) so even if sales drop DC will let this story play out till the end. Interesting that the character has a military background - apart from Captain Atom and Warbird, I can't think of many that do. (And let me clarify - by military, I do not mean 'served a stint in the army' like Captain America or the original Union Jack; I mean their BACKGROUND is military, as in they either come from a military family or chose the military as a career - or both.)

	they shouldn't kill Beth off to soon. If they let her grow up then they could use her to explain high society Kate in 52. Beth disappeared, Kate took over her life to investigate what she was up to. What I love most about the new Batwoman is how the art and story correspond. How many times did we see Kate and Beth mimicking each other before the "big reveal" in #857? I'm particularly referring to the scene which started #857 where the pair is on the phone and their faces combine to make one picture, but there are a couple of pages where they're actions mirror each other. It really made me look at their features even before the events of the issue.
