Batgirl 6 solicit

BATGIRL #6
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Written by Bryan Q. Miller
Art by Lee Garbett & Trevor Scott
Cover by Phil Noto
In “Core Requirements” part 2, Stephanie Brown finds herself teamed up with Damian Wayne! The new Batgirl and the new Robin must enter an area of Gotham City known to Gothamites as Devil’s Square, but to the residents, it’s called “Thunderdome”! Their mission: to save innocent civilians from being used in a real-life game of life and death!
On sale January 13 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

Devil's Square? Weird, never heard of that part of Gotham before. Is it near the Cauldron or the East End? Or the Fashion District?

And can't we get beyond Thunderdome already? Seems like two thirds of all the Final Crisis tie-ins consisted of superheroes being made to fight each other for someone's amusement. More deathmatch comics rarely interesting comics make, unless they involve Wonder Woman and Black Canary.

Also, boo for Damian giving Steph a blackeye.

So basically you have to buy the comic, but under protest?

Why would you buy something you found distasteful in the first place? And why do you find it distasteful? Apart from wht I see as Barbara's ignominous demotion from starring role to supporting cast. But you don't even like Babs, do you?

I don't think that's what he/she is saying at all.

*shrug* I give up.

He/she was saying they wish comic books were available to purchase online on iTunes because they don't like shopping at comic book stores I guess.

Oh, oh, oh.

*feels dumb*

I didn't get this because I was under the impression that there were sites who sold comics as PDFs. I'm still a bit of a comics n00b, so this seemed quite natural to me.

I don't get the attraction. I want to hold the issue in my hand, not struggle to read it on a tiny iPod screen.

I don't think you *can* read comics on that small a screen. Why not read it on your computer screen? Works for me.

*shrugs* Isn't the same.

Can't replace real books and you can't replace real comics.

I guess. Those who live in poverty and third-world countries devoid of proper comic book stores must simply make do. =)

definately agree. Holding something and reading it is a much more enjoyable experience than reading online.

Yeah, and it's not as if anybody else in the universe could possibly have different preferences than you do.

Thanks for the unwarranted hostility.

You're welcome.

Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine. "I don't know why people do X, because I hate X." As if they're declaring how everybody should think, or believe the entire world should cater to their (and only their) preferences. Some kind of crazy entitlement thing.

You see it all the time on the Internet.

Except that if you take it that way then you're reading things into the statement that weren't made there. "I don't know," means just that: They don't understand, not that they disaprove.

IMNERHO there's really nothing wrong with a simple statement of confusion. It's essentially an indirect way of asking what, as far as I can tell, is an ultimately harmless question ("So what do people like about this?.. Because I don't see it..."). There are, admittedly, a few cases where people make it rhetorically (in which case, ok, yeah, THEN it probably does imply disaproval), but those are the exception, not the rule (and this certainly doesn't seem to be such a case).
