Totally agreed. I've always liked him in theory, but in practice, he seems to come off more as an obnoxious bully.
They really should be playing up the psychological angles of the character rather than always just relying on fear-gas-induced paranoia and hallucinations. I'd like to see a Johnny Crane who's learning how to find and exploit people's fears even without gas. And that could even be just when the costume's off. When it's on, it could be like what I was saying back when we were talking about Morrison's Joker: a walking, inhuman nightmare.
Really, I'm curious when the last time was that anybody was actually ever scared to read a Scarecrow story.
