Gotham Central: assorted scans
OKAY SO LIKE, sorry that last post turned out... wanky, here's some less controversial scans (all from different issues) of some of my favorite moments from Gotham Central. First, a little bit of follow-up about Romy and Batman:

Oracle makes a cameo (sort of).

In which Batman is sneaky, and not a dick (this is during the storyline where Harvey has majorly fucked up Renee's life, and she's been abducted from police custody to spend forever with Harvey in an underground room o_____o):

There. All better. B| Now get along. B|

I like that moment where she's like, "You know his name?" I assume it's surprise at the personal attention/respect they would have about a fallen policeman?

Yeah, I like that too. Because of course they don't know how personally the Bats take their "failures", but now, at least, Stacy knows.

I don't know. I just don't buy it. Maybe I still can't get over the fact that Batman's respect towards officers seems to be limited only towards the ones that have died. He obviously has no problems in telling officers to (not literally) fu** off, sucker punch them so hard they end up with broken parts of their body and bleed profusely, and taking their belongings so they can get in trouble.

Respect my a%$!!!!!!

Oh, why doesn't Stacy tell Robin that Batman physically assaulted Romy with the intention to harm her and left her with a broken nose that turned into a geyser of blood? I think that would have been a more important detail to go along with him taking her gun. That is some flawed reasoning. If anyone got assaulted and had anything stolen, you bet your sweet pages they'd mention assault. I guess Stacy gets punched in the face and has her nose broken on a regular basis so she probably thinks it's no big deal.

Um. Okay. Can we possibly leave that argument behind in the other post? It's getting really old.

What? The issue that was brought up is Batman's 'not well known' respect towards officers. I don't see how him knowing who died could be counted as respect since if any officer dies in the line of duty, that would be well known pretty much anywhere, unless news and radio stations don't exist in Gotham.

It takes more than just knowing an officer's name to be a respectable person.

Oh, okay, so that's a "no", then. Fair enough!

That was one incredibly OOC scene. Normally, Bruce respects Gotham's non-corrupt officers and trusts them to do their job. Gordon is probably one of the closer things Batman has to a friend, and I'm sure there are a million and one examples of Batman respecting the police compared to the one scene where he's shown punching a cop in the face.

And on a related note, that scene totally bothered the heck out of my too. It just seems so OCC for Bruce. I usually expect better from Rucka.

Not to keep an old argument going, but to be fair, she DID shoot him with intent to kill. And her motives for doing so were a BIT questionable, to say the least. Under the circumstances, I'd say under the circumstances, a bit of an OOC 'WTF?!?!?!' reaction might not be entirely OOC, if you catch my meaning. It's not like he just slugged her for no reason at all.

But yeah, this is probably an argument for another time and another place.
