Read the comment you're replying to, because I just said exactly that. And in the case of exploitative sexuality, the issue I'm taking here is to say that it's a case inherent in one character rather than a sign of the era or the mindset of the creators would mean that it's inherent in every character, if not the entire universe itself, and that's a ridiculous idea. If you go from a cheesecakey artist to someone more respectful, there's no reason it should be acknowledged in-universe, because it isn't a part of the character, it's a part of the story. Metatext has its place, but it should not be the standard.
