Spoilers! Batman and Robin #5

Enjoyed parts of the issue, but I'm wondering why it's apparently important for Dick to be suddenly proclaiming himself 'not so smart with business', these last two issues, even though he's able to be a great detective and grew up with Bruce from the age of 8 or 10. Also, is this Jason Todd 1 or Jason Todd 2?

Edited to add: Just FYI, I was commenting on the dye job choice. Pre-Crisis Jason Todd did not have red hair. He had blond hair.

Well, apart from that, the only other time Jason has appeared is Battle for the Cowl so really, it's just one series and a decent chuck of Countdown. It feels a little unfair to say "nearly every" when it's at least half an half. I will admit I'm disappointed this isn't Jason, though, because he would have been written as Winick and Johns have, as opposed to Countdown and Battle for the Cowl.

No, it wasn't. It could be argued as a tie in, but it was a seperate entity.

I tend to think of "during UTH" as more of the period of time during which the story arc happened than

I count his appearances in Robin as OOC as well, and let's not forget the wondrous work of Bruce Jones in his appearance in Nightwing (actually, let's). Plus, while he had some IC appearances in Countdown, he had a fair share of OOC ones, too- probably the majority.

I suppose you're right, though- it is closer to half and half. His OOC appearances were considerably more memorable- and, sadly, influential- than most of his IC ones, though.

How did Fabian write him OOC in Robin?

Man, the hair bugs me. Red, wtf?

... maybe the plot just struck me the wrong way- which it really did, to be entirely honest- but it just seemed "off" to me. He seemed to be all brawn and no brains in a lot of ways- he may be impulsive, but the fight read to me as more "dumb fighter" than "losing his temper." Firing into a crowd, WTF? And then there's the whole thing where he got arrested- that and the subsequent failure to immediately escape from police custody before Tim helped him out (which honestly read very oddly to me, anyways) really rubbed me the wrong way. I know it sounds stupid, but that alone spoiled the whole arc for me, not that it was particularly enthralling without that annoying little plot detail.

I agree; the red looks horrible.

Hmmm... yeah, he is an expert marksman. So shooting at a crowd would seem off. But other than that...

HOWEVER, when you read the entire arc (some portions I posted recently if you check under the Jason tag) Jason's strategy to get rid of the gangs is a sound one and a well-thought out one.

It's Tim who says Jason's brawn, but then later admits he used Jason's idea. But other than that (especially b/c you see Jason looking "nervous/scared" to hear what Bruce says, then later reflecting on both his and Bruce's memorial cases)

The red is RIDICULOUS! OMG. I like the fact that Jason doesn't seem to entirely enjoy wearing the hood, I can totally see that. But the red hair... Also red eyebrows?! Did he dye those as well?!

Seriously, the hair and eyebrows... The only explanation I can come up with that only makes my brain bleed a little is that he's from an alternative earth, and the real Jason, who isn't half as crazy, ugly, or stupidly dressed and takes his other-universe self out in the next issue. It's the only way this makes even a tiny bit of sense.
