Disney. You just bought a comic company you don't need to use third parties to publish your comics anymore.

Well, the deal hasn't been finalized, if I remember right.

I saw the previews for this a few months before the merger.

Disney's gone back and forth on publishing their own books a few times.

I wonder what will happen to Disney's european comics based on the Marvel merger. To be honest, I can't see Marvel doing Donald Duck very well.

Marvel respects that fans love Huey, Duey, and Louie, but they think having kids ages Donald, so Donald will be making a little deal at Bald Mountain...

Except it's kinda in character for Donald to flip out and do something stupid in the heat of the moment.

I think he actually DID sell his nephews to the devil (or something vaguely like him at any rate) at some point, but he changed his mind and got the deal undone somehow... Gah, I have images in my mind but can't actually recall the story.

You know, I couldn't watch the Night on Bald Mountain sequence all the way until I was seventeen?

I caught a bit of it when I was, like, five, and was so absolutely terrified I couldn't watch it for years.

But now I think it's awesome. Even if it's still pretty creepy.

[/nostalgia]

Also, I bet Scrooge McDuck could fix all that. He's that awesome. :D

Actually...it's odd. The kids have aged in certain series(House of House comes to mind.) He hasn't.

...Maybe he's been up there already.

Bloodlyshiva, who will re-register one of these days.

If they disband/sack/whatever the talent they have at Topolino... well, they're shooting themselves in the foot, really.

You know, the 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' segment of 'Fantasia' is one of my favorites, but I really think Disney has gotten more than enough use out of it by now. I mean, Apprentice Mickey is EVERYWHERE in Disney! He's on logos, he shows up for stage shows, he's probably one of the costumed characters wandering around Disneyland - enough already! (Then again, I'm not a fan of just plain normal Mickey, so it's not surprising I'm sick and tired of this alternate version of him.)

This isn't all that new, actually; it's from the Italian Mickey Mouse comic magazine Topolino and was published in Italian a couple of years ago. (It was published in Norwegian last year, so I've actually read it!)

Aside from wizardry, there's not very much to tie this to The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

The basic story revolves around a wizard tournament where the goal is to gather all the fragments of an uber-powerful magic crystal that was shattered some time ago. The fragments still have some power -- you can see Mickey holding one of them in the preview pic here (that particular fragment can control the weather, and he's trying to make it rain).

To compete in the tournament, Mickey gets together with Donald and Goofy, who in this series are also wizard apprentices, but each have some performance issues: Goofy (who's just a wizard because it's an old family profession) just isn't very interested in magic and instead spends most of his time and energy on finding other things to do, and Donald has huge problems with timing -- it's not that his magic doesn't work, it's just that it works too late, the desired reaction usually not showing up until long after it was needed.

It's a pretty fun story, in that certain "Italian Disney comics" way.
