who thinks the reason why Kal-L is only threatening to raise Pa Kent is because like Don Hall he's "at peace"

Of course with the revelation they're not really the dead people it's harder to figure why that matters. Perhaps people who are at peace are actually able to fight against rising.

I'm also wondering if they'll use this to show us that you don't necessarily need a green ring and another colored ring but someone fueled mostly by will could defeat a Black Lantern if aided by someone mostly fueled by another emotion.

The Lois Lane of Earth-2, Kal-L's wife.

Pa Kent hasn't been resurrected yet.

Actually, since Hal and the Indigo Lantern were able to fend off a BL by combining their powers and the fact that the only way to defeat the Black is to combine all the powers of the Lantern to create a second, 'Light of Creation', maybe the only way one can defeat a Black Lantern is by fully coming to terms with their emotions. If a person dies while he is at peace, like Don or Johnathan, they have come fully to terms wit their emotions and that they have no debts or regrets to anyone whereas the Martian Manhunter died in pain withering as his enemies surrounded him, so he didn't die peacefully and that's why he is a BL.

except the latest issue of Blackest Night said that it was more like the rings were wearing the dead than the dead were wearing the rings.

Ralph was actually beaten by the Indigo Lantern channeling Hal's power, not just fought off. And Sue didn't react. So individual BL's can be beaten.

Which is what I was talking about.

I think we all guessed earlier that the rings were controlling the dead rather than the dead having unfinished business.

But these are actually the actual corpses that the rings are on correct? Someone mentioned the idea of the rings just creating like a duplicate of the body, but then that makes black lantern spectre really not make any sense

its not really the Spectre that is a black lantern, its Crispus Allen's body that trapped the Spectre's power.

and so far we know two conditions seem to exist. the way the person died determines if they become Lanterns. So yes, unfinished buisness comes into play, which is why Dove didnt come back, he was "at peace" only people that did not die in peace are coming back. the second condition is yes, the body is theirs, thats how it gets their memories.

It's like this: Nekron is wearing these bodies, AND their brains and memories, as puppets. Think of it like he dug someone up and wore their face or something grotesque like that. He's taunting, using guilt as a button to push to stimulate other emotions. The perception that the dead are blaming you or reproaching you, dead who are emotionally important to you(leaving aside the villains, who mainly seem to be focused on the lowest common denominator, fear), and are convincing because of their appearance and the specifics of what they say, will be more likely to overwhelm your rationality and let your emotions get away from you, including anger that the corpse is being used that way and desecrated.

Nekron has a very black sense of humor.
