EMILY FIELDS + CLARICE FONG

For the entire day, Emily felt as if she couldn’t get out of work fast enough. She was keyed up and ansty, constantly talking to her co-workers and the occasional customer about the parties that were going on all over Atlantis today. The smile for the impending party she planned to attend wouldn’t leave her face. One would think that she’d had way too many espressos throughout the day, but she really hadn’t had any more than normal. In fact, she’d probably had less since she hadn’t needed the extra boost of energy.
When she’d first gotten into the shop that morning, Emily had even decorated a little for no reason at all. All of the usual specialty drink-themed holidays were over until probably July, so there wasn’t anything left to decorate now that Easter had passed. A couple streamers hung from the ceiling and across the pastry display glass. She drew a little decoration on the cups of customers that took their drinks to-go, and she’d switched the music from the normal soft rock and pop kind of music over to something a little more dancey. Several of her co-workers commented on how she’d end up dancing behind the counter to the overhead music or while she was cleaning up tables, but Emily didn’t care what they thought. She was simply ready to go party the moment her shift ended.
“You should come by the Troucation as soon as you get off!” She called out to one of the cashier’s on her way out the door. She’d already taken off her apron and had changed into a fun outfit. An off-the-shoulder, loose top and a pair of dark jeans paired with a set of black peep-toe heels. Enough of a heel to give her a little extra height but not enough that her feet would be screaming at her by the end of the night. On the way, she texted her girlfriend, all of her friends, and a few random acquaintances she’d gotten to known over the last several months to join her if they felt like having a good time. Who didn’t like having a good time?
The party was already underway once she reached the Troucation, and after looking forward to this all day while at work, Emily didn’t waste any time going to the bar and ordering herself a fruity cocktail. She planned to start out slow since this was hardly going to be her last drink for the night. Drink in hand, she grinned and hit the dance floor, not really caring if she was dancing with a stranger or not. Nothing wild and crazy but just bopping along to the music that blasted from the speakers. It had been a long time since she’d really let loose, and she intended to have a fun time tonight.
