Christopher tightened his arm around Christine's waist as he pulled her into a spin on the dance floor, never taking his eyes off her face. Lauren was dancing with Demora, which meant he had a moment to enjoy dancing with his wife. All his attention was on the woman in front of him. He brushed his lips against hers. "Have I told you just how positively radiant you look today?" The wedding had been everything she’d ever dreamed of and Christine couldn’t stop smiling. She had never in her wildest dreams imagined that something like this would happen for her and she moved closer to her husband and smiled at him. “You have but you can feel free to tell me as many times as you like because I love hearing it.” Chris bent his head down so his lips brushed her ear. "You are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. You glow more than any star in all the galaxies and you take my breath away." He had said before that it didn't matter if they were legally married or not, but he hadn't been prepared for the emotions of today, and the look on Christine's face. It was more than he could ever hoped for. "You're perfect, my star." She smiled at him. “You are far more poetic than you give yourself credit for, my love,” she said. “This has been such a perfect day, I couldn’t ask for anything more. And our daughter is having a fabulous time.” Christine glanced over to where she could see Lauren and Demora dancing at the edge of the dancefloor. “I’m so glad we’re finally going to get the chance to be a family.” Chris chuckled against Christine's neck, pressing his lips against her skin. "You are biased. As for Lauren," Chris said, smiling as he glanced over at their daughter, "Well, I'm just glad she didn't insist my tux be yellow." Christine laughedd. “Oh me too. I can’t imagine what that would have looked like. It would have felt like I was marrying a banana! You look very dashing in what you have on if I do say so myself. Besides I would have found a way to talk her out of you wearing a yellow tux. I did manage to convince her having Luna in the wedding might not be a good idea.” "Now now, I'm sure I could pull off a yellow tux. I'd be the most handsome banana you ever saw," Chris teased, taking the opportunity to brush his lips against Christine's neck. "Which I appreciate. Luna's not quite well behaved enough yet." “But she is damn cute,” Christine smiled. “And yes you would make a very handsome banana but you have to wear a red hat so you can have a cherry on top. We might as well go for the gusto.” She knew she was being silly but she didn’t care. After all they’d been through to get here, Christine felt that they had earned the right to be a little silly. Chris chuckled at the image. "Now, now, I don't need you giving her any ideas. But I might be persuaded to don a yellow suit with a red hat if the occasion calls for it. But then I might need you to be the whipped cream to my banana split." “Why you and your dirty mind,” she said with a grin. “I wasn’t even thinking along those lines and there you go.” Although she actually had been but it was fun to pretend the opposite. “I think I could go along with that.” Christopher laughed and gave her a look. "Uh-huh, you're not as innocent as you look," he teased as he dipped her and kissed her hard. "But I wouldn't have you any other way." “How much longer before we can blow this joint and star the honeymoon?” she asked when she was upright again. “I think we’ve mingled sufficiently and heaven knows that the party won’t stop just because we leave it.” Christopher chuckled. “Well, I think this is your day so you get to decide when we’re done. But I will not object to us leaving.” He smirked. “I could throw you over my shoulder or carry you like a bride if you like…” “I have to throw the bouquet first,” she said with a smirk. “That way we can see who is next. Then I think we can go. Although I want us to say goodbye to Lauren in private. I know she’ll be fine with Sulu and Demora but it’s been a big day for her and she probably wouldn’t mind a little time with just us.” "Of course," Chris said. In some ways, he wasn't sure if today was more important to Christine or Lauren. But at least they were all now legally a family, and for that Chris was infinitely grateful. There was nothing more important to him than having his family here and getting a chance at a life with them. "Does that mean I get to pull off your garter? Or do you want to save that for later?" “That’s for later because I got a garter that is not safe for work as it were,” she said primly. The truth was that she had purchased a very nice ensemble that she knew Chris would appreciate and she wanted it to be a surprise. "Well, hopefully no one will care if we skip the garter toss then," Chris teased, pulling Christine close and wondering just what she had up her sleeve. "What do you I go steal Lauren for a last father-daughter dance while you round up everyone for the bouquet toss? “Sounds perfect,” she said and kissed him lightly. “I love you,” and with that she was off to gather the single ladies together so she could toss her bouquet. |
