Steve Rogers & Lorna Ramon
FEAR SCAPE - TRIGGERS | COMPLETE
The room was empty, white, she was looking around confused. Lorna tried to start to remember where she’d been, what had happened. She’d gone to bed pretty early the night before with plans of waking up early but this wasn’t… Her train of thought stopped as she caught sight of someone else. Steve Rogers. At least she knew who he was.
“Captain?” Her voice was wary as her heart started to pound. She felt fear, anger, confusion and something else, a lot of it. She was doing her best to stay calm but she couldn’t hide the prickling fear she was already feeling.
Steve blinked confused as he stood in the room. A room he had never seen before. He tried to remember what he did last night. He had gone to bed late, having stayed at the Base training. He had been a little restless lately. But he was sure he had gone to his bed, so he had no idea how he had ended up there.
When he heard his name, he turned to see Lorna standing near him. “Lorna ... Any idea where are we?”
Her mind was starting to get overwhelmed, her head hurt but she decided not to comment on it, she did her best to hide it.
Shaking her head she looked around as the room around them faded and they found themselves in a cave. Lorna knew this, she could feel her body, she was hungry and a rifle was in her hands. This was exactly where she’d been right before she got pulled back to the past. Lorna knew this.
“No… no… no…” She whispered out as she felt a wave of other people’s emotions flood her.
Steve noticed the change in the room and looked around the now cave to see if there was a way to get out of there. “Lorna... Lorna, what’s wrong?” he asked, confused and worried. He could feel she wasn’t right and wanted to help her. He needed to find a way to get them out of there and back to Atlantis.
Everything was black and white again, there were sounds outside, COS had started to use something that overwhelmed her and Lorna didn’t know what it was. Her eyes started to get blurry as she dropped onto her stomach looking through the scope she looked down wondering if she’d end up back in Atlantis a year ago but instead her nose started to bleed and she passed out.
A moment later she was standing where she’d been standing when they first arrived in the cave. Panicked eyes turned on Steve. “I don’t know.”
Steve rushed to her side and tried to help her up. “We need to find a way out of here.” He tried to stay calm and asset the situation. They were trapped in some sort of loop, it seemed. Maybe it was one of Atlantis’ doing? Or perhaps COS? He wasn’t sure but he knew they had to get out of there. “It’s alright, Lorna. Does anything of this look familiar to you?”
“I don’t think we are going to get out,” Lorna said as she could feel the fear and the similarity of the situation. “This is from right before I came to the past.” She said trying to shake the fear away. “I was about to die when I -” she couldn’t say it. “This is something I’ve lived before.”
“So we’re in your head, somehow?” If they were in her head or something similar it meant they could control it. Well, she could control it. Hopefully. “You need to try and control this, that might be our way out. This is just in your head, it can’t hurt you.”
“I can’t control it,” Lorna felt her own annoyance and it was ten times what it should be. “It’s not inside my head, this is something else.” She knew it wasn’t just inside her head, it couldn’t be. It was too real. She shut her eyes trying to concentrate but as she did another wave of emotion, anger, fear, confusion, indecision overwhelmed her.
Lorna and Steve went through sixteen repeats of the same thing until Lorna found a way to just allow it to happen, let in everything she was feeling. She was overwhelmed and exhausted standing with her hands on her legs as everything went dark and the next thing she saw were people disappearing into dust.
