[Childish giggling--is it male? Female? It’s impossible to tell--surrounds every blank as they heed today’s call. It’s barely audible, able to easily be ignored. But it is ever present. In the arena on the throne sits Haunted’s statue, headless as ever. Even without facial features she gives off the sense of being very pleased with herself.

Being a normal human girl, you can't do much. Watching the people you love hurt or taken from you and you're powerless to do a thing...it's enough to drive anyone mad.

And even if someone is powerful, if they can't maintain the energy to use that power, then they don't end up much better. Because even if they WANT to help, even if they're willing to risk it ALL, if they know they can't manage before they run out, there's nothing they can do.

If something could change that, even if it's a bad decision...I could see why either party might do it if things were bad enough.

[Reaches over for his hand.] Maybe there was. But usually bad decisions are made because we can't find that good option, no matter how hard we try.

But I don't think you should underestimate her. Little girls aren't perfect and in bad situations we do make bad decisions, but I think if she loved someone that dearly, she'd have made the choice no matter how old she was.

[Squeezes his hand and looks up at him.] And even if she is, then obviously she was important enough for you to come here for.

[Looks up with a determined air, and still holding onto his hand.] Speaking as another little girl who made a horribly bad decision...and ended up happier here than I ever was at home, I'm going to bet she doesn't.

Because Tide is a kind person. And because despite the bad parts, you've given her power to get something done that she couldn't before.

I don't think she'll think you're a monster. And if she doesn't, it's not right for anyone else too, especially me, as another little girl who made bad decisions.
